Bush pick-up is a service provided by the City and makes everyone's job easier when we have everyone's cooperation and support. Please refer to the following regulations.
New Brush Pick-Up Policy - Effective July 1, 2024
The City of Mineral Point Street’s Department will pick up brush on the 3rd Monday of the month between April and November. The Street’s Department will not pick up yard waste. Yard waste includes grass clippings, weeds, dirt, and other compostable materials. Brush includes sticks, limbs, and other woody material. The brush must not be over 6” in diameter or 6’ in length. The City will not pick up material left behind by commercial tree removal services. The City will continue to pick up leaves in the fall as long as they are separated from Brush.
Residents must put their brush on the terrace or lawn and not in the street. Brush must be placed out by 7:00 am on the 3rd Monday of the month and must not be placed out before the Friday before Brush Pick-up day (72 hours).
Residents will be provided with a warning if they fail to follow the policy for Brush Pick-Up. The Streets Department will place a notice on their door informing them they did not follow the City’s Brush Pick-Up policy. The Streets Department will communicate regularly to the Police Department and City Administration all addresses that receive warnings. Residents who do not follow the brush pick-up policy following a warning may receive a citation for public nuisance or littering.
Residents can take their compostable materials to the City’s compost site on Old Darlington Road. Residents can take their brush to the burn site behind the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant during regular business hours.
The Streets Committee will review this policy at the end of each season (November). If it is determined that the policy is not being followed by residents, the Committee may determine to discontinue all brush pick-up services offered by the City.
